Geo Distance app for iPhone and iPad

"In which direction and how far away is …"

This app is intended to help you finding the orientation in an unfamiliar area, if you do not have any map or directions at hand. All you need to know are the geographical coordinates of your destination or its postal address. Based on this information, Geo Distance will display the direction and distance to the target (air distance). Provided there is a good GPS signal, position and distance will be calculated with a tolerance of about 25 meters.

To add a new destination, use one of the two buttons in the right upper corner of the main window. (Please note that while registering a postal address a one-time connection to the Internet is necessary to derive the related geographical coordinates. Once the position is registered, only the GPS signal is needed. In case the position cannot exactly be determined, there will be a light circle around the direction arrow.)
Having added a new destination, it will be shown as an additional row in the main window displaying the name of the destination followed by the direction to the destination (arrow) and its distance from the current position.

Expert tip: If you are in an area where "everything looks the same" (e.g. on the water, in the woods) and you need directions for a later return, register your "current location" each time you turn (come to a crossing, a fork etc.). On your way back, just follow the previously registered turnpoints in opposite sequence.
